Côte d’Ivoire’s E-filing system captures almost $1 billion in tax payments as of June 30th, 2018
Out of US$1.9 billion in taxes collected by June 30th 2018, over half (US$950 million) were paid via the new, online tax declaration and payment system, known as E-Impôt.
Côte d’Ivoire is the first francophone nation in West Africa to launch an e-filing system for tax payments. This groundbreaking system is part of the Ease of Doing Business Initiative, which the government launched to support investment and economic growth.
Government’s continued engagement with the business community, and its efforts to support transparency and efficiency are yielding tangible results. These initiatives have not only seen Côte d’Ivoire’s Ease of Doing Business ranking improve from 139 to 122, they have also kept the nation on the IFC’s list of Top 10 most reforming countries globally.
